Television actors Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill posted their condolences, mourning the demise of legendary Indian sprinter, Milkha Singh. He passed away on June 18 due to COVID-19 related complications at 91

Legendary Indian sprinter Milkha Singh, who was fondly known as the Flying Sikh passed away last night due to COVID-19 complications. Singh left for his heavenly abode, five days after his wife Nirmal Kaur’s demise. He was 91. Mourning his demise, honourable President Ram Nath Kovind, honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and others posted their condolences on social media. Now, television actors Sidharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill made tweets, mourning the death of the Flying Sikh.

Taking to Twitter, Shehnaaz Gill tweeted, “Flying Sikh passes away. Sardar #MilkhaSinghJi RIP.” Sidharth Shukla also made a tweet and wrote, “You were and will always be an inspiration Rip #MilkhaSinghJi” The Bigg Boss 13 winner called late Milkha Singh an ‘inspiration’ in his emotional tweet.

Meanwhile, apart from Sidharth and Shehnaaz Gill, former Bigg Boss contestant and actress Mahira Sharma also mourned the loss of the Flying Sikh. Mahira tweeted, “My Heartfelt condolences at the passing away of legendary #MilkhaSingh Ji. You inspired generations to follow their dreams. Indeed a huge loss for the nation. Rest in peace Sir.”

Milkha Singh breathed his last in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the PGIMER hospital in Chandigarh. He was the only athlete from India to win gold in the 400 metres race at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. The Flying Sikh also won gold during the 1958 and 1962 Asian Games, and represented the country in the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Rome and Tokyo respectively.
